L’appartamento è un attico con terrazza di un edificio degli anni ’60 situato nel quartiere di San Giovanni a Roma. Nella sua configurazione originale era un tipico appartamento dell’epoca, con ingresso e corridoio di distribuzione ai vari ambienti. Nel progetto la collocazione delle zone giorno e notte rimane inalterata, ma la natura dello spazio si è trasforma, rendendo fluidi e lineari i percorsi, con elementi funzionali al posto delle pareti. Alla destra della porta di ingresso, allineati con un pilastro tre librerie in muratura e ferro, questi elementi definiscono l’area di soggiorno, lasciando filtrare la luce tra gli spazi. Il soggiorno è separato dalla cucina e disimpegno da un elemento in pietra, che ospita da un lato la televisione e un camino passante, e dall’altro una libreria e un ripiano per lo studio. Fanno da sfondo al divano un altro gruppo di librerie con lo stesso ritmo di quelle che separano il soggiorno, dall’ingresso. Nella terrazza accanto alla cucina e al soggiorno è stata realizzata una cucina esterna, una pavimentazione in teak, vasi in cemento su misura lungo il bordo, e una grossa fioriera con un albero che divide la zona pranzo e soggiorno all’aperto.

The apartment is a penthouse with a terrace in a 1960s building located in the San Giovanni neighborhood of Rome. In its original layout, it was a typical apartment of that era, with an entryway and a hallway leading to the various rooms. In the redesign, the layout of the living and sleeping areas remains unchanged, but the nature of the space has been transformed, creating fluid and linear pathways with functional elements replacing walls. To the right of the entry door, aligned with a pillar, are three built-in bookshelves made of masonry and iron; these elements define the living area, allowing light to filter through the spaces. The living room is separated from the kitchen and hallway by a stone feature that houses, on one side, the television and a through-fireplace, and on the other, a bookshelf and a shelf for the study. Behind the sofa stands another group of bookshelves with the same rhythm as those separating the living room from the entrance. On the terrace adjacent to the kitchen and living room, an outdoor kitchen has been installed, featuring teak flooring, custom concrete planters along the edge, and a large planter with a tree that divides the outdoor dining and living areas.
